Morocco Immersion | An Adventure in the Sahara | 06 Days / 6th to 11th July
The great day has come! Board at Lisbon airport bound for Morocco. Arrival in Marrakech, former imperial city and center of great economic and cultural importance for the country. Our local guidance team will be waiting for us to give us the first information about the location, as well as basic guidance on how to exchange local currency - but this can also be done at the airport. From that day on we will be in the magical universe of Morocco. Overnight in Marrakech.
After breakfast, at 9:30 am we will leave for a tour of the historic center of Marrakech, where we will have the opportunity to discover some of the wonderful chaos of this city. We will pass by Jemaa El-Fna, the square with the greatest cultural concentration and part of the Medina that is considered Cultural Heritage by Unesco, the Souk, Koutoubia, the city's most important mosque and a spice house. At the end of the tour, we will have free time to get lost in the colorful streets and learn a little more about the art of negotiating.
After breakfast, we will set off to enjoy a scenic drive as we traverse the stunning High Atlas Mountains, with mountainous landscapes and traditional Berber villages along the way.
We will stop at Tizi n'Tichka, the highest point on the road, to enjoy the panoramic view of the mountains and have a drink of water or coffee.
Upon arriving in Ait Ben Haddou, we will have time for lunch in a typical local restaurant and then take a guided tour of the ancient fortified city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll explore the narrow streets and mud houses of this impressive kasbah, which served as the setting for many famous films, such as "Gladiator" and "Game of Thrones".We will continue our journey and sleep in Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night.
After breakfast, we will depart towards the long-awaited "Sahara Desert", passing through the Todra Gorges and continuing the journey into the desert. Afterwards, we will go to the Irrachidia region where we will have henna tattoos with the Bereber Women and also borrow typical clothes to take photos. At this moment we will already be enveloped by the magic of the desert.
Upon arriving in the Sahara, we will leave a caravan of dromedaries for approximately an hour that takes us to the tent camp. The tour takes us back in time and we feel like the ancient nomads who crossed the entire desert on their dromedaries. The energy is inexplicable!
Overnight in the Sahara.
We will wake up very early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara, sitting on the large dunes. It's a very beautiful and special moment!! We will continue back, crossing the arid and, at the same time, desert landscapes until reaching the Draa Valley. We will cross the Anti Atlas to reach Ouarzazat - the Moroccan of Hollywood - where we will visit the cinema studios of great films such as Game of Thrones, Ben-hur, The Life of Jesus, 007 and Little Buddha among others. We will then head to Marrakech, arriving in the evening.
Overnight in Marrakech.
Breakfast at the hotel and free day to enjoy Marrakech a little more. There are countless suggestions, ranging from returning to the medina for the last bit of shopping, visiting the Majorelle Garden, a botanical garden inspired by Islamic gardens located in the center of Marrakesh, also known as Yves Saint Laurent's garden, going to a hammam, which is a traditional Arabic bath in which cleaning is basically done through steam and skin exfoliation, originating from the Roman baths or even taking a balloon flight.
